What analysts report
Omdia, reported by Deadline in February 2026, estimates global microdrama revenue reached $11 billion in 2025. It forecasts $14 billion by the end of 2026 and more than $22 billion by 2030. The United States is the second largest market, expected to account for half of microdrama revenue outside China by the end of 2026.
Other estimates run lower or higher depending on what they count. Market research firms and company disclosures are the main sources, and almost none of it is audited.
The three year lag
The Vertical Frontier, Working Paper No. 1, draws on sessions from the first Micro Drama Summit and interviews with operators in five markets. It places the United States roughly three years behind China, with the format born in China around 2019 to 2021 and in the US around 2022 to 2024.
The paper labels these timelines as directional estimates from its own synthesis, not audited data.
Markets that skip stages
Latin America moved from localizing existing shows to producing original IP in about eighteen months. The United States took closer to three years. The Middle East launched with a hybrid mix of subscription, brand integration, redistribution and social rather than a paywall alone.
The takeaway in the paper is practical: forecasting a late market on the old Western curve means being early to the wrong conclusion.
What it means if you work in it
A growing market with unaudited numbers rewards people who can verify claims. Ask where a figure comes from. Ask what it counts. Then build on the range, not the headline.
Learn this from the people doing it. Micro Drama Summit runs online November 11 to 13, 2026, with a 1 year replay included.
