Microdrama Jobs: Who Gets Hired
The format is built on speed, so the jobs reward people who can finish. Here is who gets hired and where the listings are.

Behind the camera
A vertical drama set needs the same departments as any other shoot, compressed. Producers and line producers hold the schedule together. Directors and cinematographers have to be fast and comfortable framing for a phone. Editors matter more than usual, because pace is the product.
Vertical Drama Jobs lists openings by role, so you can go straight to the one that fits: producer jobs, director jobs, writer jobs, video editor jobs, and showrunner jobs. Studio jobs covers roles at the companies commissioning the work.
Writers and showrunners
Writers produce a lot of pages quickly. The Vertical Frontier estimates writer output at roughly twelve times that of a traditional TV writer, with flat per-script pay and no residuals. Showrunner roles are growing as studios build slates instead of one-off shows.
AI filmmakers and animators
A new group of creators makes full series with generative tools. Studios hire for it, and so do the AI companies themselves. Look at the AI film jobs and animator jobs pages for current listings.
Performers and the union
SAG-AFTRA signed its Verticals Agreement on October 13, 2025. It covers productions under $300,000 and sets minimums of $250 a day for leads and $164 a day for other performers, according to Variety and Deadline. A casting head quoted by Variety said the deal is not usable for most vertical companies, so many productions still work outside it.
Writers have a separate question. John August, citing a WGA ruling, has said this work falls under the WGA minimum basic agreement, which is not the same as being paid at those scales in practice.
How to get in
Start with a finished piece, even a small one. Vertical drama teams hire on proof that you can deliver on a short clock. Then apply where the work is: most listings are remote or project based, and Vertical Drama Jobs has a remote microdrama jobs page for exactly that.
